Psalm 118:24
‘This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.’ Ps 118:24
Then you go 10-8 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your radio comes to life, the first call of the day – “respond to the local elementary school; report of a 288pc, your victim is 5 yrs old”
‘This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.’ Ps 118:24
Again you hear your dispatcher, “clear for traffic?”; “273.5 in progress, RP says her husband is hitting her, now he has a knife”; you respond, Code 3.
‘This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.’ Ps 118:24
Once again; your beat, 10-56 ~~
“RP found her 19yr old grandson hanging in the garage, she won’t cut him down”
Do you sometimes find it hard to rejoice and be glad? I know I do. But our Lord reminds us that we don’t need to be glad for the situations, just for who He is.
The Lord has called you into the ministry of law enforcement because; ‘the face of the Lord is against those who do evil….’ Ps 34:16 In His word he tells us ‘….for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.’ Ro 13:1
Our Lord gives us many reasons to rejoice; in His salvation (Ps 13:5); His righteousness (Ps 7:17); in His promises (Ps 119:162); in our inheritance (Isa 61:7); that He is our savior (Lk 1:47); and because He is our God (Isa 61:10)
I encourage you to hold onto these words in difficult times, and know that our Lord is with you, always.
‘This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it' Ps 118:24
