In October 2005, a small handful of Christian Peace Officers from California traveled to the New Orleans area to minister to members of the law enforcement community there. They brought donations, Bibles, clothing, and other physical items; but mostly they brought hope. After a week of prayer, fellowship, and encouragement they left with a promise to return and expand a partnership toward recovery between peace officers in the Gulf Region, and the rest of our Country. |

What can you do ?
* If you can go, GO!, and bring someone with you. This is not just for cops who are saved. What an incredible opportunity to bring someone along who is seeking, and have them see the Gospel at work. You will never forget it.
* Share this opportunity with everyone you know through e-mail and personal contacts. What a Blessing we could be if many peace officers would respond to this calling.
* Most Importantly, Pray. Pray for provision, for the resources to send out, and the people to go. Pray that we would not miss this opportunity to make a difference, and that God would receive all the Glory.

Almost 2 years after the storm, many officers and their families are not back in their homes. Morale is low in the P.D., working conditions are very poor, and they are hurting. Many officers are still living in FEMA trailers. They feel like the rest of the Nation has forgotten them. The good news? Jesus has not forgotten them, and we can prove it to them. We can be the hands and feet that can go and help to rebuild their home in His Name, restoring their families, and bringing the Glory to God!
Beginning August 27, 2007, we are looking to send numerous teams over an 8-week period, for one week at a time to serve our brothers and sisters at the New Orleans Police Department.
The EV Free Church of America, Katrina Disaster Response Team has agreed to partner with several Christian Peace Officer organizations, including Peace Officers for Christ International, to support short-term missions trips to serve officers of the New Orleans P.D. who have had their homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. |
